Wedding Wednesday: Bridesmaids!

This past weekend I formally asked my dearest ladies if they would be my maids.
I put together a gift of sorts containing all the fun and important notes about our big day, their role, and my dress preference. Needless to say, there were girlie outbursts and tears involved.:)

Meet and greet my girls:

yannah standiford: maid of honor –most treasured sister, natural beauty, eyes and ears of my good and bad, cute nosed, unconditional, most likely to tell me everything is going to be okay on my big day and thereafter.

elizabeth becker: best friend forever, captivating soul, faithful through thick and thin, laugh of a free-spirit, most likely to smother me with hugs and tears regardless of my make-up and wedding dress.

hope jahnke: sister of the groom, youthful perspective, jolly ole’ time, beautiful young woman with envied lashes, most likely to shake her tail feathers on the dance floor.

sarah graf: most graceful friend, infinitely more than a roommate, admired Godly wife to mr. graf, comfort in all times, delicately lovely, most likely to remind me of God’s blessings throughout the day’s celebration.

jordan woiteshek: dear friend of many years, guaranteed good time and memory maker, quiet wisdom, unique in the best possible way, most likely to make me laugh until my asthma kicks in on my wedding day.

They're the best.

xoxo,

The Graduate

She did it!

With flying colors I might add. Summa Cum Laude, best of the best. I could go on and on with the many academic achievements Faryn has earned. She worked hard, applied herself and stayed focus and on top of things. All qualities that will enable her to excel in the working world. Yet, so much more of who Faryn is lay beyond the honors cords and tassel.

We celebrate something more.
Faryn is truly a heart that blesses those around her. The degree to which that blessing is varies from person to person but it is without hesitation that all would agree she is something special. Her words, voice, style, spirit, and heart have great richness. A smile that can light up any room. A love that is full of Christ.
We celebrate you, Faryn Bo.

Job well done.

Thirst

“If I discover within myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world”
-C.S. Lewis

"Unless you are heavenly minded, you will be no earthly good."
-Taken from Pastor Joel Lindsey's message

There is a stirring of the Spirit whirling around me and gently speaking to my heart.
The gospel of love is good and omnipresent whether a soul chooses to be aware of it or not.
It has the power to make all things new every single day.
God is calling us to receive the free gift of all-sufficieny.

Only the shadow of death touches us, but it does not overcome us.
Christ died and experienced the apartness that we deserved. He became thirsty
so that we will never be thirsty again. (Revelation 21:6)
We are given eternal water. Life.

I will wait for Him and walk in His promises
unashamed.

Style Muse: The Help

This past weekend my parents, J and I watched The Help. I am surprised that I had not yet seen it since it was the most talked about book and movie for quite some time. The movie was very moving and well, inspirational for many reasons: one being for the 1960's fashion! My mom can testify that almost every scene I made a comment about how lovely the outfits were. I suppose this means that I aspire to dress as such and, as my mom commented, "You may have majored in the wrong area." If at least it inspired me, I am content.

I applied to Anthropologie yesterday just for the (hopes) & fun of it.

The Graduate

This past weekend was surely filled with smiles and miles.
We journeyed north to Manitowoc, WI to celebrate the graduation of my dear mother from her masters program. A mother of 4 with a full time job who completed her Masters degree, how neat is that?!

Really neat.

Easily one of the hardest working and studious persons I know.
She worked after "work",
studied at the library on the weekends
and late into the night.

It was wonderful to celebrate such an accomplished
woman and mother. A loving spirit and a servant leader
both at work and home.

We snagged a couple hotel rooms (boys room and girls room)
and brought snacks, games and our swim suits!

It was a fantastic weekend with just the family.
These times are growing fewer as we grow older but for that reason they
are rich in love and plentiful in laughter. Truly nuggets of life's gold.

Smiles for miles.
